Tulip Memphis

With its rich magenta-pink petals and clean white base, Tulip ‘Memphis’ is the kind of tulip that stops you in your tracks. The colour is vivid but not brash—more raspberry than fuchsia—and the way it blends into creamy white gives the flower a fresh, upbeat feel. If you're planting for impact, this one's a winner.

Memphis is a Triumph tulip, one of the most reliable and weather-tolerant groups out there. Strong stems, a neat oval shape, and a mid-spring bloom time (usually April) make it perfect for planting in blocks, rows, or mixed displays.

It reaches around 40–50 cm in height, so it sits comfortably in the mid-border and works brilliantly in pots as well. Try it with whites, soft pinks, or even orange tones for a vibrant mix.

Plant the bulbs in autumn, in a sunny or lightly shaded spot with well-drained soil. Like most tulips, it’s best treated as an annual if you want a consistent display each year, but you may get lucky with some reflowering if left undisturbed.
