Description
Trollius 'Orange Crest' is a cheerful globeflower with vivid yellow-orange blooms and a striking tangerine centre. The cup-shaped flowers are held on sturdy stems above a neat mound of deeply divided, glossy dark green foliage, bringing bright colour to the garden in late spring and early summer.
With its compact growth habit, 'Orange Crest' is a versatile choice for borders, smaller gardens and pond edges. It is a long-established variety, first trialled at Wisley Gardens in 1929, and remains a popular choice for its reliable flowering and distinctive colouring.
Why grow Trollius 'Orange Crest'?

- Ideal for borders, smaller spaces and pond edges
- Flowers from late spring to early summer
- Thrives in consistently moist, humus-rich soil
- Deer resistant
- Attracts bees and butterflies

Growing information
- Height: 45–60 cm
- Spread: 30–45 cm
- Flowering time: Late spring to early summer
- Position: Full sun to partial shade
- Soil: Rich, humus-rich soil that remains consistently moist
- Moisture: Keep the soil moist and do not allow it to dry out
- Hardiness: Hardy perennial
For the best results, plant Trollius 'Orange Crest' in cool, consistently moist soil. It is particularly well suited to pond edges, rain gardens and other damp areas. In warmer climates, some afternoon shade can help protect the plant from intense summer heat.
Deadhead spent flowers to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage further flowering. Once established, 'Orange Crest' forms a reliable clump and requires very little maintenance, returning with fresh growth and bright flowers each year.
