Description

Trollius 'Cheddar' brings soft, creamy colour to the garden in late spring and early summer. Its semi-double, cup-shaped flowers are a delicate buttery yellow, held above a mound of glossy, deeply divided dark green foliage.

A lovely alternative to the brighter yellow and orange globeflowers, 'Cheddar' works particularly well in cottage gardens, along pond edges and in moist borders. The flowers combine beautifully with blues, purples and other pastel shades.

Why grow Trollius 'Cheddar'?

  • Soft, creamy-yellow flowers with a distinctive, refined colour
  • Flowers from late spring into early summer
  • Excellent for moist borders, pond edges and rain gardens
  • Thrives in rich, consistently moist soil
  • Tolerates heavy and clay soils
  • Deer and rabbit resistant
  • Attracts bees and butterflies
  • Excellent as a cut flower
  • Deadheading can encourage a second flush of flowers
  • A hardy perennial that returns year after year

Growing information

  • Height: 45–60 cm
  • Flowering time: Late spring to early summer
  • Position: Full sun to partial shade
  • Soil: Rich, moist soil; tolerates heavy and clay soils
  • Moisture: Keep the soil consistently moist and do not allow it to dry out
  • Hardiness: Hardy perennial

For the best results, plant Trollius 'Cheddar' in a spot where the soil stays reliably moist. It is particularly well suited to low-lying areas where other perennials may struggle. Once established, it is easy to care for and will reward you with dependable flowers year after year.
