Description
Sanguisorba 'Pink Tanna' is such a lovely plant to have in the garden, especially if you enjoy a more natural style of planting. Throughout summer, slender stems rise above the foliage, carrying little fluffy pink flowerheads that gently sway in the breeze.
The flowers are a beautiful rosy pink, with lighter pink stamens that give them their soft, feathery look. They're quite unlike most other garden flowers, and look particularly good when planted amongst ornamental grasses or other summer perennials.
'Pink Tanna' is also one of the more compact Sanguisorba varieties, growing to around 60 to 90 cm tall. It's ideal for the middle of a border, where its delicate stems can grow through neighbouring plants without hiding them. Try combining it with Echinacea, Salvia or Verbena bonariensis for a lovely late summer display.
Another reason to love this variety is how easy it is to grow. It's a hardy perennial that comes back every spring, gradually forming a healthy clump. Plant it somewhere sunny or partly shaded, in soil that doesn't dry out too much, and it will happily grow for years with very little fuss.
The flowers are also popular with bees and other beneficial insects, making 'Pink Tanna' a lovely addition to a wildlife friendly garden.
At DutchGrown, we supply Sanguisorba 'Pink Tanna' as bare root plants for spring planting. Dispatch begins in mid March.
