Description
Dahlia ‘Nadia Ruth’ is a stunning dinnerplate-style fimbriata dahlia prized for its enormous blooms and exceptionally soft colouring. Despite the impressive flower size, the plant maintains a light, elegant appearance thanks to its finely fringed petals and delicate pastel tones. The large fully double blooms can reach 15–25 cm across and open in layered shades of shell pink, blush, buttercream, and creamy white. Warmer tones gather near the centre of the flower, while the outer petals fade softly towards pale ivory, creating a luminous, almost glowing effect in the garden.
As a fimbriata dahlia, ‘Nadia Ruth’ features finely cut, feathered petal tips that add texture and movement to the blooms. This delicate fringed finish softens the scale of the flowers, giving them a more refined and romantic character than many traditional dinnerplate varieties. Plants grow to approximately 90–120 cm tall with strong stems capable of supporting the large blooms throughout the flowering season. Flowering begins in midsummer and continues reliably until the first frost, especially with regular cutting and deadheading. Early staking is recommended to maintain upright stems and protect the oversized flowers.
In the garden, Dahlia ‘Nadia Ruth’ works beautifully as a soft focal point in mixed borders and pastel planting schemes. Its colouring blends effortlessly with blush pinks, creams, apricots, pale yellows, and deeper contrasting tones. The blooms also reflect evening light beautifully, adding brightness and softness late in the day. As a cut flower, this variety is exceptional. The long stems, airy flower form, and versatile colouring make it ideal for romantic bouquets and large floral arrangements. It brings both volume and texture without appearing too dense or formal.
For best results, plant tubers in spring once the risk of frost has passed in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Provide regular watering during dry periods and support growth early in the season for best flowering performance.
A large yet graceful fringed dahlia combining dinnerplate size with soft, luminous beauty.
