Description
Dahlia ‘Cabana Banana’ is a bright, softly coloured semi-cactus dahlia that brings warmth and lightness to the summer garden. The blooms are formed from long, slightly pointed petals that give a loose, elegant structure without the rigidity of a true cactus type.
The colouring is its standout feature: a creamy yellow base that melts into soft peach and blush pink at the petal tips. As the flower opens, a warm golden centre becomes more visible, creating a gentle gradient that shifts with the light and stage of bloom.
Flowers typically reach 13–18 cm across and are held on strong, upright stems. Plants grow to around 90–105 cm tall and flower continuously from midsummer until the first frosts, especially when regularly deadheaded.
In the garden, Dahlia ‘Cabana Banana’ is ideal for softer planting schemes, where it adds brightness without overpowering surrounding colours. It pairs beautifully with creams, pale pinks, apricots, and soft purples, and adds useful texture alongside rounder decorative dahlias.
As a cut flower, it performs well thanks to its long stems and relaxed, natural shape. The shifting pastel tones blend easily into mixed arrangements and help soften stronger colours.
For best results, plant tubers in spring after the risk of frost has passed in a sunny, well-drained position, and stake early to support growth.
