Description
Dahlia ‘Ka’s Cloud’ is a striking dinnerplate-type dahlia known for its large, airy blooms and soft, cloud-like colouring. Flowers can reach around 20 cm or more in diameter, yet maintain a light, elegant appearance rather than a heavy or dense feel. The blooms are fully double with broad, gently curved petals arranged in an open, relaxed form. Colour is predominantly clean white, often developing a subtle blush pink or shell-toned glow towards the centre as the flower matures. This natural variation means each bloom has its own soft character, ranging from pure white to gently warmed pastel tones.
Plants grow to approximately 100–120 cm tall and produce strong, upright stems capable of carrying the large flowers. Early staking is recommended to support growth and maintain clean, straight stems throughout the season. Flowering begins in midsummer and continues until the first frost with regular deadheading and cutting. In the garden, Dahlia ‘Ka’s Cloud’ works beautifully as a soft focal plant in borders or mixed planting schemes. Its pale colouring blends effortlessly with blush pinks, creams, apricots, and deeper tones, where it provides contrast and balance without overwhelming surrounding plants. It is especially effective in romantic, naturalistic garden designs.
As a cut flower, it offers excellent volume and versatility. The large, pale blooms form an ideal base for arrangements, pairing easily with almost any colour palette. Even a few stems create instant impact in bouquets without overpowering other flowers.
For best results, plant tubers in spring once the risk of frost has passed in a sunny, well-drained position with space to develop. Regular cutting encourages continuous flowering and strong plant performance through the season.
A soft yet impactful dinnerplate dahlia that combines scale, elegance, and a naturally airy presence.
