Description

Dahlia ‘Fashion Monger’ is a distinctive collarette dahlia with a playful, painterly character and strong pollinator appeal. Each bloom features creamy white petals dramatically splashed and streaked with rich raspberry-red markings, creating a unique, brushstroke-like effect where no two flowers are ever identical. At the centre sits a ring of soft pale-yellow petaloids surrounding a golden disc, forming the classic collarette structure. This open centre adds texture, movement, and makes the blooms particularly attractive to bees and other pollinators.

Flowers are typically 7–10 cm across and carried on slender, upright stems. Plants grow to around 75–90 cm tall with a light, airy habit that works well in mixed borders and naturalistic planting schemes. In the garden, Dahlia ‘Fashion Monger’ brings a relaxed, informal energy. It blends beautifully into cottage-style borders and works especially well with ornamental grasses, whites, soft yellows, and deeper red companions. Its open structure helps soften denser plantings while adding visual interest throughout the season.

As a cut flower, it offers a more unusual, artistic touch to arrangements, adding pattern, movement, and contrast alongside fuller blooms.

For best results, plant tubers in spring once the risk of frost has passed in a sunny, well-drained position. Light staking is recommended in exposed sites, and regular cutting will encourage continuous flowering.

A characterful, free-flowering dahlia that brings texture, movement, and artistic flair to both garden and vase.
