Description
Dahlia ‘Diva’ is a richly coloured decorative dahlia with a classic, well-formed bloom and a confident garden presence. The flowers are fully double and neatly structured, with layered petals forming a rounded shape that feels both elegant and bold. The colouring is deep and saturated, shifting between wine-red and plum tones, with cooler shades emerging toward the centre of each bloom. In certain light, subtle violet undertones appear, adding depth and preventing the colour from ever looking one-dimensional.
Blooms typically measure 10–15 cm across and are carried on strong, upright stems. Plants grow to around 80–100 cm tall and flower continuously from midsummer until the first frosts with regular deadheading. In the garden, Dahlia ‘Diva’ is particularly effective when paired with softer tones such as blush pink, cream, and pale apricot, where its depth of colour creates strong contrast. It also works well in darker planting schemes alongside burgundy foliage and richly toned companions, helping to structure more relaxed borders.
As a cut flower, it performs exceptionally well, producing long, clean stems and blooms that hold their shape in arrangements. Its rich colouring makes it suitable as both a focal flower and a supporting element within mixed bouquets.
For best results, plant tubers in spring once the risk of frost has passed in a sunny, well-drained position, and stake early to support steady growth.
A bold yet refined dahlia that brings consistent colour, structure, and reliability to the late summer garden.
