Dahlia Aladdin’s Lamp

Dahlia ‘Aladdin’s Lamp’ brings the rich, mellow tones of late summer straight into the garden. The fully double blooms open in soft apricot and peach before deepening into warm burnt orange with touches of coral and copper through the centre of the flower. In evening sunlight the petals seem almost backlit, giving the plant a glowing warmth that works beautifully in borders planted with grasses, rudbeckias, salvias, and other late-season favourites.

The blooms are neatly formed and generously petalled, creating rounded flowers with excellent depth and texture without appearing too formal or heavy. Flower heads typically reach around 10–15 cm across and are carried on strong stems that stand well through the season, making this variety just as useful for cutting as it is in the garden.

‘Aladdin’s Lamp’ flowers continuously from mid-summer until the first frosts, producing an abundance of colour over many months with regular deadheading. Its warm palette blends particularly well with soft creams, deep burgundy tones, bronze foliage, and naturalistic planting schemes.

Growing to around 90–110 cm tall, this decorative dahlia is ideal for sunny borders, cutting patches, and larger containers in a sheltered position. Like all dahlias, it performs best in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.

Plant tubers outdoors in spring after the last frosts for a spectacular display that carries right through to autumn.
