Description
Ixia Marquette, also known as African Corn Lily, produces elegant cream to pale lemon flowers with a distinctive burgundy centre. The star shaped blooms appear on slender stems above narrow, grass like foliage, creating a light and airy look in borders and containers.
Plant Ixia Marquette in a sunny, sheltered position with well drained soil. It works particularly well planted in groups, where the flowers create a much stronger display. The blooms are also suitable for cutting, making this a lovely choice for anyone who enjoys bringing flowers from the garden indoors.
Ixia prefers a warm, sunny spot and good drainage is especially important. In colder parts of the UK, a sheltered position or some winter protection can help the corms through colder weather.
