Description
Peony Madame Claude Tain is a refined and elegant herbaceous peony, valued for its beautifully formed blooms and timeless presence. The large, fully double flowers open with a soft creamy tone, sometimes showing a faint hint of warmth when first emerging, before settling into a luminous, almost porcelain white as they mature. The finely layered petals create a light, romantic effect while maintaining a classic, structured form.
Flowering in late spring to early summer, this peony brings calm sophistication to borders and perennial plantings. The flowers are carried on sturdy stems reaching approximately 80 to 90 cm in height, forming generous clumps that spread to around 60 to 80 cm wide. Its upright habit allows the blooms to be displayed clearly, making it equally suited to garden planting and cutting.
For best results, plant Madame Claude Tain in well-drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded position. The crown should be set shallowly, with the eyes positioned about 3 to 5 cm below the soil surface. Once established, this peony develops into a long-lived and dependable perennial, returning each year with increasing strength and flower quality. Its refined colouring pairs effortlessly with pastel perennials, classic roses and other early-summer favourites.
