Tulip Little Beauty

Tulip Little Beauty may be tiny in size, but it has more personality than many full-sized tulips. This charming botanical tulip grows to only around 10–15 cm tall, yet its flowers are impossible to overlook once they open. The pointed petals appear in rich cherry pink to deep rosy red, surrounding an extraordinary steel-blue centre highlighted by a crisp white ring. In bright spring sunshine the blooms open fully into glowing star shapes, creating one of the most striking colour contrasts found in any tulip.

Unlike many modern hybrids, ‘Little Beauty’ has a natural, refined appearance that works beautifully in gravel gardens, alpine planting, containers, and the front of borders. The flowers open and close with the changing light, bringing movement and variation throughout the day.

This variety belongs to the Tulipa humilis group, a species tulip valued for its reliability and ability to naturalise successfully in the garden. Once established in well-drained soil, the bulbs gradually multiply and return year after year with very little maintenance. Each bulb can produce several flowers, creating increasingly generous displays over time.

Flowering in mid-spring, Tulip ‘Little Beauty’ also carries a light sweet fragrance, something rarely found in tulips. Its compact habit makes it especially effective planted in large drifts where the jewel-like flowers can truly shine.
