What Is The Difference Between The Butterfly Ranunculus™ And The ‘Traditional’ One?
You may wonder what the difference is between the Butterfly Ranunculus™ and the ‘traditional’ Ranunculus. We are happy to explain the notable benefits that make it a highly desirable choice for your garden and floral arrangements:
- Many flowers: Each stem has 5 to 7 flowers, making bouquets and arrangements a fuller and more abundant appearance.
- Long blooming time: The Butterfly Ranunculus™ flowers bloom for a long time and stay good for a long time.
- Long vase life: A special tiny layer of waxy coating on the petals helps them stay fresh and vibrant in a vase.
- Long stems: Because the flowers have a long stem, Butterfly Ranunculus™ flowers look great for all sorts of flowering arrangements.
- Bright colour: The buds and flowers come in bright, eye-catching colours such as pink and orange.
-
Less diseases: The plant doesn’t have hollow stems, reducing the disease risk.

Growing Butterfly Ranunculus™: Our Best Tips
1. Planting Season
Plant Butterfly Ranunculus™ in autumn, before the ground freezes. The best time to plant is between October and mid-November to allow the bulbs to take root before the winter sets in.
2. Soil And Sunlight
Butterfly Ranunculus™ likes a sunny spot with a generous amount of light every day. Plant the bulbs in well-drained soil to prevent root rot.
3. Planting Technique
Ranunculus Butterfly™ bulbs are planted in the autumn, before the ground freezes. Wait until the soil is about 15°C (60ºF) or colder. Then, you can dig a hole (there is a general rule when planting bulbs that the bulbs should be at least two times the height of the soil above them). The planting depth should be between 2-4 cm (1-2 inches) with a density of 25-30 cm (10 inches). Cover the bulbs with a layer of soil.
4. Watering
It's important to water the bulbs well after planting to help them settle in and take root quickly. Do not overwater, as there is a risk of root rot. You can water the bulbs if there hasn't been any rain for 3–5 days.

Wait And You Will Be Rewarded
Butterfly Ranunculus™ takes a little longer to establish. But if you wait patiently, you will be rewarded with beautiful flowers in the Butterfly Ranunculus™ season: summer. Butterfly Ranunculus™ flowers up to 75 cm (25–30 inches) high, and is a favourite by pollinators, such as bees and butterflies.
